Where is Ariel's Studio and the free music classes?
Ariel's studio is located in West Lafayette, near Menards. Since the studio is within my home, I do not publicize the address until registration of a child. When you email me your registration for the free class, I will send you the address. Thank you for your understanding.
What are we going to do at the free classes?
Great question! We are going to sample the 2 types of programs within Music and Me: Infant/Toddler and Preschool/Beyond. Be ready to move, wiggle, sing, and learn music with your child. When registering you will share your child's age to help me plan what we sample. If we have children from 6 months through 6 years in the room, we will sample a little of everything to make sure everyone has a great time. To learn more about the programs, please click here.

What should I expect of Ariel, my child, and myself while at the class?
My responsibility as the teacher is to plan appropriate material, engage with your child, and lead the class in music making. Your responsibility is to connect with your child, participate in the activities, and be an example that music is for all. Your child may sit with you and not want to participate, sit with you and participate, wander around the room, or some combination of these. It is all normal to some degree, depending on the age. As long as the child isn't disrupting the class, other students, or property of the home, the child is allowed to do as he/she feels comfortable doing. The reasons behind this will be explained upon registration of a full semester or in person if you have concerns.
Prizes. I heard there were prizes!
Of course! There ARE prizes! To be entered into the drawing for the week, you must attend a class and fill out the Prize Entry Form. It's that simple. Prizes will include instruments and be worth up to $40. You will also receive a thank you gift for registering and paying your tuition for the next full semester the week of the Grand Reopening. Click here for more on registering for a full class during the GRO. Keep watch for more details.
How will a full semester be different from a free class?
One of the biggest differences is that the full semester will be geared toward more specific age groups. The free classes are a sampling of many levels for children of differing age groups. Our full semesters have defined age ranges to be more appropriate for each skill level. The Infant/Toddler program is split into two age groups, for most classes. In Preschool/Beyond, we keep the kids together. Learn more about the ages for the different programs here.
Another big difference will be comfort level. Each semester it takes a few classes for the kids to get comfortable and for the guardian with them to feel confident singing and doing the activities. So, one class is a lot to take in, but plan on having some fun!
We will do mostly movement activities during the free classes. This will keep kids of all ages engaged for a half hour. A full semester also includes some movement, fragment songs, call and response songs, and circle games. To learn more about the activities for each program, click here.
What ages can attend these free classes?
The Music and Me program that we will be sampling from is designed for ages 6 months through 6 years and their parents. All of the free classes are open to this age range. We will do something for everyone in the sample classes. During a full semester, the classes are structured to have appropriate activities for smaller age ranges.
What if I can't make a free class, but I still want to meet Ariel?
There will be an open house in the evening on April 10. If you are unable to attend a class, but you still want to talk in person, send me an email at arielsstudio@gmail.com and I will give you more information about the open house.
